With Vampire Survivors having a full range of characters surviving against all sorts of monsters, it's time for other heroes to fight other kinds of monsters. Almost anything can fill that role if you use your imagination and that's how you get Brotato. It's about a bro who may also be a potato, but he looks more like an egg to me. Either way, he's not your ordinary potato as he can wield all sorts of weapons and tools to fight the forces that be. Still, these forces consist of creatures, mutants, and monsters looking to bite into your freshly peeled body.

Despite being a potato, you're not completely defenceless. Your body has its share of mutations that allow you to carry up to six different weapons and tools you can use simultaneously. It's also strong and adaptable enough to serve as a host to all sorts of creatures and objects that can improve your power in various ways. Still, you do have some limitations, so you need to decide how to season your potato. There are multiple strategies for outlasting the waves of varied enemies. Although level-ups and upgrades are randomized, you should aim for those supporting the following builds.

XP Build
The Brotato level-up system is pretty straightforward: Enemies will drop glowing green things you can collect for XP. Fill up the green bar and you'll go up a level, potentially going up multiple levels during one wave. Each level you gain gives you a choice of one in four permanent stat boosts. As you progress, these boosts become more and more important as they're purely beneficial and the more you level up, the more powerful they get. So, it makes sense to build a Brotato that gains XP fast and has a high score in the Harvesting stat. The Mutant character starts with a 200 percent XP boost allowing you to consistently get level up even in the late game when the level-up stats start to have real value.

Speed Build
The area in which you fight the monsters is a contained square field that seems large early on but gets smaller the more foes are introduced. It won't be long before you'll start feeling overwhelmed and surrounded with no way to escape. That's why speed is so important, both in movement and attacking. However, attacking should come first since being able to fire and strike faster can make up for low damage, especially if effects like Burning and Knockback are available. The One-Armed character has the highest starting Attack Speed but can only carry one weapon. Still, the right items and level-ups to improve movement speed, dodging, and extra attack speed can make this character nearly untouchable.

Field Build
The more time you spend in the field, the more you realize that there's not too much space and you can take advantage of that. There are weapons and items that you can use to cover the field with everything that serves your purpose. You can collect several types of turrets that will do various forms of damage as well as choose upgrades that will cause more turrets to spawn. This will let you deal damage to enemies before they even come on screen which can work well with any items that allow you to spawn random mines around the field. It can even provide support if you make a few choices to spawn Gardens, more Trees, or even Healing turrets so that you don't have to rely on HP Regeneration and Life Steal.

AoE Build
This build may have a bit of a slow build due to the early waves, but you'll find yourself taking on hordes of enemies. Some will spawn in groups while others will naturally come together to charge toward you. This is why you need to consider AoE abilities so that you can take advantage of all that grouping. This means you'll be looking for weapons like the Shotgun, Plank, Shredder, Flamethrower, and the highly-prized Bazooka. Burning spreads quickly among groups and will drain health for an easy kill. You can also save a few slots for a weapon or hope for items that spawn mines across the field. As long as you pour enough Damage into Explosives, you can clear a lot of hurdles.

Damage Build
This may seem like an obvious choice for obvious reasons and it is, obviously. The more damage you can do, the faster you can eliminate the hordes and the bigger chance you have to take out elites and boss enemies before the wave ends. This is where characters like the Multitasker can shine, being able to wield up to 12 weapons. Even though it reduces the output which each weapon, you can choose level-ups and items to counteract the negative effects until the score becomes positive. Of all the weapon types, Melee and Explosive types have among the highest damage scores with Elemental weapons being quite useful for how their damage spreads. Your level-ups are the most consistent way to boost your attack power so picking characters or objects that can increase XP gain will be very effective.
